“Nothing is too much trouble for these guys, and you can tell they are passionate about cycling and enjoy it. After one visit to Bike Station Aptos they inspired me to cycle again, and now I am the proud owner of a new Pinarello Prince. Totally knowledgeable and helpful!” - F. Vaiarello
watching the Olympic women’s road race. Being from a small town in
the southwest corner of Nebraska, there was not a lot much of a cycling community.
Her first bike was a Panasonic for $200, purchased at the local Yamaha shop.
After discovering subscriptions to cycling magazines (remember, this was before
the internet and almost before TV!) and reading them from cover to cover over
and over again, she left this bike behind for her first (in a line of many) Italian
road bike. Ever the entrepreneur, Joanne had to borrow $1200 from the bank to
purchase it! By the way, this bike is still in her garage. She races, wrenches,
and really never stops thinking about bicycles.
Joanne has vast experience with bicycle fitting and is a trained mechanic. She
has
also worked at sales and as a mechanic for a shop in Italy. She has even enjoyed
a brief stint at the Olympic training center.
Travis Richard: Travis comes to us from Mariposa, Ca. He is a trained mechanic and loves to make bike frames as well. He is a downhill dirt jump sort of guy, so we get to teach him about Merckx and Hinault and he tells us about Chase and our local Aptos hero Cameron.
Kristin Romero: Kristin is a runner/triathlete at heart. She is from SoCal and as they say you can take the girl out of SoCal but you can’t take SoCal out of the girl. Watch out, because she has the genes of an Olympian. She is a great asset to the shop and loves bicycles -- especially the Italian ones 'cause they are spicy like she is.
